Each year, Communications High School offers a full-time Design Academy for twenty students entering their junior year of high school. The Design Academy is a two-year program for students that have a strong interest in art, print and design with the goal of enrollment in a post secondary art program.


The Design Academy provides a customized educational experience, aligning student’s learning needs with 21st Century Skills. Students learn from a curriculum rich in digital and traditional art and design, and use cutting edge industry software. Emphasis is placed on developing college-level portfolios.


CHS also has an active chapter of the National Art Honor Society that volunteers in the community, visits museums and shares in our love of art!


Required courses for Design Academy students include: Computer Applications, Intro to Design, Illustration & Design, Advanced Design, Print Production, Advanced Print Production
